Cylindrical Roller Bearings are designed to carry heavy radial loads and are manufactured in different designs relating to the configuration of the flanges which provide the guides for the rolling elements.
The four most common designs and suffixes are:
NU, LLRJ, MMRJ - Two flanges in the outer ring, no flanges on the inner ring. Axial displacement is accommodated in both directions
N, XLRJ, LRJ, MRJ - Two flanges in the inner ring, no flanges on the outer ring. Axial displacement is accommodated in both directions
NJ - Two flanges on the outer ring, one flange on the inner ring. Shaft is located axially in one direction
NUP - Two flanges on the outer ring, one flange on the inner ring and a loose flange. Shaft is located axially in both directions
NF, XLRJA, LRJA, MRJA - Two flanges on the inner ring, one flange on the outer ring. Shaft is located axially in one direction
