Fitting Ceramic Hybrid Bearings

Everyone wants to improve their performance and make sure they have the best opportunity to get those top results. This is why so many of you are upgrading your race bike bearings to ceramic hybrid bearings. But did you know that extra care must be taken when fitting these bearings to ensure you get the best performance and life from your investment?
Read our helpful tips below before fitting your ceramic hybrid bearings – compiled with the help of Enduro Bearings:
“When fitting these bearings you must make sure the bearing is not too tight. When seating the bearings you will need to “knock” it back the other way so that it completely seats properly without being tight. Usually this can be achieved with a light press or push from the opposite direction. You can use the fitting tool or axel to do this. This must be done with every ceramic hybrid bearing you fit. If the bearings are too tight the balls will just “cut” the races producing excessive play in a very short time. For replacement in BB’s, the bores have to be cleaned out so the bearings roll smoothly after being pressed in and seated properly as above.” |
